Our Story Rooted in Love
Every brand starts with a reason. Ours started with a daughter. Before Urban Roots Apparel was a company, it was a promise — one made quietly, by a father watching his daughter grow, thinking about the kind of world he wanted to build for her and the kind of man he wanted to be in it.
That love became the foundation everything else was built on. Not a business plan first, but a purpose first.John Jones, founder and CEO of Urban Roots Apparel, has never separated his faith from his fatherhood, and he's never separated either one from the work.
His strength as a father has always come from his strength in God — a steady, grounding belief that showing up with purpose, integrity, and love isn't just personal practice, it's leadership. That belief is what turned a private promise into a public mission: to build a company for the culture that raised him, rooted in the same values he was determined to pass down to his daughter.
The Gap He Saw
John didn't come to fashion looking for a trend. He came to it because he saw a need that wasn't being met.Urban culture has always driven style — the language, the attitude, the influence run through music, art, and streets far beyond where they started. But John saw a gap between the culture's real creative power and the way it was actually being represented on racks and in closets: a lot of noise, not enough craft. He wanted something different — clothing that carried the authenticity of the culture and the quality of real design. Not a costume of the culture. A true reflection of it, done right. That unmet need became the mission: elevate the look. Bring designer-level thought — fit, fabric, detail — to a style that had always deserved it, without losing what made it real in the first place.
Building Urban Roots
That's how Urban Rootz came to life — the name itself a nod to where all of this actually starts: family, faith, and culture, planted deep and grown with intention.Urban Roots Apparel exists because a father kept a promise. Every piece we design carries that same intention — built for people who want to look sharp without losing their identity, and who understand that where you're from is something to wear with pride, not something to dress around.
This is more than apparel. It's a promise, stitched into every piece: to family, to faith, and to a culture that deserves to be represented at its very best.
